MEChA de Sonoma has a lot going on this semester. Our new meeting times are Mondays at 7 pm in the Student Union, either in the Erin Fisher Room or the Multicultural Center. Come be a part of a bigger movement and have fun while doing it!

M.E.Ch.A de Sonoma 2010-2011 School Year

Hola y bienvenidos a todos,

This site has been outdated for sometime and we apologize! We have big plans this year and we are looking for motivated and passionate new members. Our meetings are on Mondays @ 4 in the Multi-Cultural Center (first floor of the student Union). Tune in for more entries coming to you soon for our upcoming events.

The first two of this month is the Celebration of Mexico's and other Latin American countries Independence on September 16th. Look forward to music a pinata and informational handouts to the history of our resistance movements in front of Stevenson.

There will be a Raza Welcoming Forum on September 9th from @ 2pm in the Multi Cultural Center.

And look forward to an authentic Latino Dinner prepared by us in the Zinfndale Dinning center.

2010 Raza Youth Conference

M.E.Ch.A. de Sonoma will be hosting the 2010 Raza Youth Conference on Saturday April 24, 2007 at 9 a.m. at Sonoma State University. This conference is absolutely free and all high school students are welcome!

This conference aims to empower, educate and politicize by providing workshops presented by students, professors and members of the community here at Sonoma State University to expose students to a university environment and making all components culturally related. The conference will provide food and entertainment for the students attending. More importantly, it aims at creating unity amongst all raza.

SSU to Host Spring 2008 Statewide Conference

It was with a unanimous vote that MEChA de Sonoma was chosen as the hosting chapter for the 2008 California MEChA Statewide Conference yesterday at this semester's conference hosted by CSU Stanislaus.

Indigenous Peoples Solidarity Day Sunrise Gathering

MONDAY, OCTOBER 8, 2007, 5:00 A.M., PIER 31, SAN FRANCISCO

The Indigenous Peoples Solidarity Day Sunrise Gathering happens annually at Alcatraz Island in San Francisco. IITC extends and invitation to the general public to come and listen to the voices, stories, songs, dances and drums from traditional Indigenous Peoples from the Western Hemisphere who offer an alternative and historically correct perspective to "Columbus Day." Join us as we give honor and respect to our ancestors, cultures and survival and celebrate the recent adoption of the "Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples" by the United Nations General Assembly.
